Ruth Richardson, Executive Director of ASRA, is a speaker at The Next 8 Billion – An intergenerational dialogue on the future of multilateralism and the multilateralism of the future. With the world’s 8 billionth baby born in the Dominican Republic in 2022, this special session at the 23rd International Futures Conference, hosted by the UN Foundation, looks to the next 8 billion people, asking how living generations can meet their responsibilities to future generations, and how the world can build an international system that is able to think, plan, and act for the future.
The theme of the 2023 Futures Conference is Empowering Futures – Long-term Governance, Democracy and Futures Research, and its objective is to provide a cross-disciplinary science platform where participants can meet, share, and discuss new ideas concerning futures, democracy, trust and responsibility.
