As 2024 draws to a close, we are marking two significant milestones at ASRA.
We're pleased to share a new video featuring highlights from the launch of our report, "Facing Global Risks with Honest Hope," which took place in New York in September on the eve of the UN Secretary-General's Summit of the Future. Through a montage of moments from the event, narrated by our Executive Director Ruth Richardson, the video explores why we need a radical new approach to understanding and addressing systemic risks in our interconnected world. It presents a set of concrete actions we can take now, drawing from the collective wisdom of over 50 experts in the ASRA network. At its heart is the concept of "honest hope"—a framework that balances clear-eyed recognition of our global challenges with the conviction that we have the capacity to address them.

We're also celebrating the successful completion of our pilot Next Generation Program. This dedicated program was created to inform ASRA from a generational perspective with early career professionals as teachers; build capacity of participants as learners; and, importantly, integrate those who will inherit systemic risk into the very structures of ASRA’s thinking and doing. For 8-months this year, 26 risk practitioners from around the world participated in online training and discussion sessions, which culminated in an in-person three-day workshop. Following their engagement in the program, we are pleased to welcome these practitioners as full members of the ASRA network, where they will continue to enrich our understanding and response to global systemic risks. See the new members on the Who We Are page.
