Senior Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya
Dr. Zora Kovacic is a Senior Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). She holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Technology from the Institut de Ciencia i Tecnología Ambientals, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA- UAB).
Zora works on the challenges of uncertainty and complexity that emerge when scientific knowledge is used in the governance of environmental issues. Her research line includes three main themes: (i) the study of how scientific evidence is used in environmental policy, with a particular interest in metrics and numbers, (ii) how uncertainty affects decision-making, with case studies on energy policies in urban slums and innovative sustainability policies such as the circular economy, and (iii) the role of innovation and the digital imaginary in environmental governance.
Her work builds on the interdisciplinary subfield of post-normal science.
